SOCIAL PROJECT
The northern Andes region is one of the most visited and promoted zones in mainland Ecuador; nevertheless, it still has a lot of hidden wonders where tourism has not yet made any inroads. That is the case of the valley of Salinas surrounded by amazing landscapes, friendly people and cultural assets. The “Chaski Antawa” train project is our way to help the Valley of Salinas and its surroundings to become a visited destination and to help improve its people’s lifestyle. We have made a huge investment and many efforts to refurbish the train, but it does not end there. We implemented a restaurant in the village and equipment for it has been donated and high-quality training has been provided to meet tourist expectations. Experts have trained the people of Salinas in cooking, services, cleaning, nutrition, dish decoration, and team work. You will surely enjoy this experience and feel the satisfaction of being part of this social project.
Other projects have also been developed: setting up a traditional workshop for arts and crafts such as jewelry, purses, reed handcrafts, recycling paper and agro industry. Passengers will also have the opportunity to visit the Museum of Salt which has just been implemented to show the process in obtaining salt, the way of living of Salinas’ ancestors.
The community has also worked together in making on Salinas a nicer town by painting their houses and repairing the benches of the park. Children have also been involved and there are workshops where they can express themselves and enjoy their free time by watching movies or learning about computers.

Menu
The exceptional and creative menu that visitors will have the opportunity to taste has been carefully selected and elaborated by the community of Salinas. The habitants are well-known for its agricultural activities. Their desire of progress and the compromise with this tourist project have helped them to get involved with enthusiasm in the restaurant, which will give them an opportunity to increase their income and improve their life style.
