It is our duty to inform you that the Ecuadorian Railroad Company (EFE) will start a program of rehabilitation of the railway on the "Chaski Antawa" route that will include the change of tracks, construction of ditches, and other improvements that will reduce the travel time between Ibarra to Salinas in at least 20 minutes.

For this reason, starting on June 15th until the end of the year, the Chaski Antawa train will operate every week on Saturdays only; private charters are available on Fridays and Sundays.  During the months of September and December the operations will be completely closed due to deeper repairs on the route.

For those passengers that already booked the "Chaski Antawa" Adventure on the days/months when the train is not operating, we will be replacing this portion with the following visits in the area:

Full day, Chaski Antawa & Otavalo Market:
Visit Otavalo Indigenous Market; enjoy a lunch in a Colonial Hacienda.  Visit Cotacachi home to the leather industry, experience Cuicocha and admire its impressive landscape of this volcanic lake surrounded by mountains.

 

Visit Otavalo Indigenous Market and its surroundings with the most representative and folkloric towns in Ecuador, lunch in a Colonial Hacienda.  Experience the Condor Park Refuge to observe birds of prey, vultures and owls; Cuicocha, admire the impressive landscape of this volcanic lake surrounded by mountains.  Enjoy one dinner at your hotel in Otavalo.
